Hello,
Have you ever heard of a place called Agena? It’s a small town in South Central Ethiopia where the community’s elders convene and run the village together.
We learned this because Robel, an ABC partner, told us that to get his avocado farm idea approved there, he was told to present his plan to the community’s town elders.
‘If the elders accept the idea, it will come to pass’
So, he approached the elders with a plan, and they were sold on the benefits it would bring them. While he was at it, Robel also asked the elders if there was anything they needed in their town.
They responded with something along the lines of ‘we would like a place where we could have meetings like this.’
That’s where the idea for the Community and Hygiene Center came from.
Fast forward to now and we have a design and project plan for the community center; the next step is fundraising.
So, if you want to contribute funds (or building materials) for phase 1 of this project, you could send me a message to collaborate (abcafricateam@gmail.com) or contribute through any of these Ethiopian accounts:
— Berhan bank: 1130910129884
— CBE: 1000512238762
We’ll be sharing more updates on this project as we go.
Have a wonderful weekend.
